Auntie, I know I'm a total creep for finding your tumblr but a while ago you gave a Sparkler advice on books and recommended the novel, Kissing in Manhattan. I recently read it and thought it was fantastic! I was wondering if you have any other book recommendations. Like, a lot of books. I have over 100 dollars in Barnes and Noble gift cards that I've been collecting for a while now. And I have a good old library card. Help?

The weirdest part of this is that I don’t think I’ve ever recommended that book, as I have never heard of it. (Are you sure it was me? Have I been unknowingly recommending books in an amnesiac fugue state?!) But I am always happy to supply reading recommendations. So, how about…
My Year of Meats, by Ruth Ozecki
East of Eden, by John Steinbeck
The Flight of the Maidens, by Jane Gardam
Gargoyle, by Andrew Davidson
The Inner Circle, by T.C. Boyle
The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets, by Eva Rice
…and if you haven’t read the Jonathan Franzen novel Freedom yet, then now would be an opportune time. It lives up to its hype and then some. Have fun!
